Arise CCU Featured in Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder Spotlight

We're honored to be recognized by the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder as this week's Black Business Spotlight.

Contributing writer Lizzy Nyoike took a close look at our story — how Arise came to be, who we're here to serve, and what makes this credit union different. It's a profile we're proud to share.

Built by the Community, for the Community

Arise didn't start in a boardroom. It started with a question.

After the murder of George Floyd, the Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP) surveyed Minneapolis communities about what they needed most. The answer came back clearly and consistently: a financial institution that truly understood them.

Arise Community Credit Union was officially chartered in March 2024. We opened our doors in June 2025. And from the beginning, our purpose has been the same — to be the financial home for communities that traditional banking has too often overlooked.

What Membership Looks Like

Membership at Arise is open to anyone who lives, works, or worships in Hennepin or Ramsey County. We've built the credit union to be accessible from day one — with low account minimums, reduced fees, and remote access for members who can't always make it in person.

Our Phoenix Loan program is designed specifically to help members rebuild damaged credit and work toward homeownership. Because financial setbacks shouldn't be permanent.
